From the looks of it the Valentino 2009 resort collection is strong enough to stand on it’s own. The collection is ripe with contrast from the billowing sleeves and soft drape to the stiff rows of double buttons and repeated mandarin collar. This segment veers off the beaten path of overused trend colors and on to a new slightly more pastel palate.

Here we see more of the drape I was referring to in the previous segment. Ordinarily I don’t like browns but because this skirt has a little drape hanging from the side it makes it all the more interesting. I like it. The skirt isn’t the only interesting thing this model is wearing, look at the sleeves on that shirt. Those are fun sleeves right there! They’re so fluffy and yet still semi tailored due to the mini cuff at the elbow. I just hope that shirt is not as sheer as it looks.

Well it’s official, you can definitely wear the Valention 2009 Resort Collection to work on a business trip. The high rise grey slacks above can be worn with almost any business blouse your already own. These high rise of these slacks is not to be confused with high waisted slacks. A high rise will go to your natural waist and high waisted items will go to or above your natural waist. Although this baby blue blouse may look similar to the white one above the sleeve styles are what sets them apart. The blue blouse has a short/ lantern sleeve combination while the white blouse is just more of a mid length bishop sleeve.

I love a double breasted suit to begin with, so naturally when I came across a bright yellow double breasted suit, I knew it was meant to be. The color is not quite canary but with the subtle and noticeably wider than average drape on the side of this skirt it really does remind me of a bird. I’m not talking just any bird, I mean a bird that is important enough to merit a jacket with so many brass buttons. We’ll just call her Captain Sunshine. Aye aye Captain Sunshine! This warm and sunny suit is something I can salute to.

As long as we’re talking about fictional characters we may as well talk about this fairy tale gown as well. The light chiffon drape looks like the wind is always blowing through it. I imagine this dress would be fantastic for those among us with a penchant for faeries. Who needs wings when your dress is light as air?
Overall I am impressed by the consistent practicality of the Valentino 2009 Resort Collection . This collection is full of pieces you can really wear whether it be in the office or on holiday. And most of all I should have guessed that it would be Valentino to produce a brown skirt I would actually want. Way to go Valentino!
