Today feels like a great day for the return of  resort collection reviews. Valentino doesn’t usually disappoint me so it feels natural to be starting back in with them. Drape is the name of the game for the Valentino 2009 Resort Collection. We are also seeing a lot of the same trend colors that were used in other 2009 resort collections. The trend colors being grey, nude or some shade of brown and black. Of course there are other colors peppered in the Valentino 2009 Resort Collection but there is no orange. Maybe that’s where Valentino drew that line because orange would be one trend color too many to maintain individuality.

When I said drape this is exactly what I meant. /This black silk dress is softly flowing down from the pit of the neck draws the eyes down vertically. This dress is definitely going to make you look taller especially you conceal your highest heels under it. Don’t worry about anyone seeing your shoes though this dress looks best when it falls all the way to the ground for extra drama.

All throughout the Valentino 2009 Resort Collection you will see lots of hanging  and billowy poufs of fabric followed by softly cascading ruffles. Here we see the repeated ruffles on the extra sheer short sleeves and also down the front of the dress. The gentle wave of the center of this dress has the same draping effect as above, they both elongate the body nicely.

The color of this dress is not quite pale enough to be a nude and not rich enough to be a brown. However you choose to classify it the color is just “o.k.”. When I first saw this dress I thought, fashionable shipwreck because whatever all that glare is from on the sides of the dress  combine with the blah color reminds me of the dress you might make from whatever you could salvage from a sunken ship. You know from the sails and what not. This dress is alright but all that extra fabric in the front isn’t very flattering, on this model at least.

Finally a little color! I’m in love with this vibrant red suit. This is what my grandmother would call a “smart looking suit”. And it is smart isn’t it? The age range for this suit is pretty open because really it is up to you to dress it up or down. I can’t see much of the vest but with all those little buttons you’re going to want  wear it all by its self for sure.

The Valentino 2009 Resort Collection is worth the wait second installation because like all of the resort reviews this will be a double feature.  You will soon see the drape, like the beat, goes on…
