I took a breather from the Fendi resort collection for 2009 because I felt I needed to gain some perspective in order to shake my previous negativity. Objectivity is the name of the game here people. Let’s get started!

Like so many  other designs within the Fendi 2009 resort collection this bathing suit is just “o.k.”. We are seeing the trend of stripes again although  these black and white stripes lack the sweetness of the other stripe patterns we have seen. Here we see a horizontal stripe instead of the mostly vertical stripes in other resort collections.

Abundance of bows? Or a big bunch of ruffles? Either way this is a look I can agree with. There’s a lot of fun going on in this mystery dress.  You can never go wrong with a little black dress. That should be your mantra when debating which dress to buy. I won’t say it wrong to wear white shoes with a black dress but if you’re going to make a statement with your shoes, why not go bolder?

Oh gosh here’s that negative feeling again…. A nude dress isn’t as bad as a brown/beige dress and yet with this shiny shearling bomber jacket I fail to see the difference.  If we remove the jacket what lies beneath is a sweet ballerina dress with enough flowing chiffon in the skirt it will send you dancing. With jeans the jacket could work but wear it with the dress and we lose the joy in both pieces. Pity that.

Finally a little glimpse of color! Navy blue never looked so bright. Also pictured is the only accessory I could find within the whole Fendi resort collection for 2009. A wide waist belt! That is right ladies, the waist belt is not going anywhere. Well not until after summer of 2009 at least. I can see someone like Sienna Miller rocking this look with cowboy boots somewhere on Rodeo drive. Hopefully this fantasy takes place on a cloudy  because if it doesn’t our “IT” girl will be sweating bullets in all of that dark color.

What is left to be said of the Fendi resort collection for 2009? I was obviously not a huge fan due to on going color concerns. Over all I liked all the short hems for both dresses and shorts. If the Fendi woman doesn’t want to display her cleavage she sure does like to show her legs. The lack of accessories has left me wanting for more.  Much more can be added to many of the looks from the Fendi 2009 resort collection and that may be the saving grace of what would otherwise be a boring resort collection. I think Karl Lagerfeld could have done better.
