I will admit I am not that familiar with Fendi as a label. I know that Karl Lagerfeld is the head of design for Fendi and well some of you may remember how I feel sometimes about his work. Lagerfeld has brought all the muted colors from Chanel’s 2009 resort collection to the Fendi 2009 resort collection.

The Fendi 2009 resort collection definitely has a more mature vibe than what we are seeing at other design houses. This model’s age in unbeknownst to me but the clothes seem to age her a little more. Separately all of these pieces are classics, together they are a little heavy. I hope those high rise slacks are seersucker or are at least available in seersucker.

Again Mr. Lagerfeld has brought us muted colors to wear on our holiday. This dusty jumpsuit’s elephant bell bottoms are reminiscent of the animal itself . I guess a grey jumpsuit might be kind of fun to wear on vacation if it is as chic as this one/. It certainly would be easy to accessorize this jumpsuit which raises the question why didn’t they? Take note now that rarely will models wearing the 2009 Fendi resort collection be wearing any accessories at all.

Finally a look with a little skin! And a little fun to boot. Color block hot pants aren’t going to speak to everyone. I have a sneaking suspicion these shorts will speak directly to Mariah Carey. She is a fan of Fendi who really loves to show off her lovely legs and what better way to do that then wearing these hot pants?

Here we have another very leg flattering look. What is up with this color? I didn’t like all the brown I had been seeing in all of the past resort collections I have reviewed and this is making it worse. All this brown can only mean there is a color trend we are not paying attention to. Or in my case, I just plain don’t want to see it. As far as this mini baby doll sack I mean dress is concerned, the welt pockets are a great touch.

My love for this dress transcends how I feel about the color. It is not as short as the previous dress thus making it wearable for more body types. If you have tummy concerns this is the dress for you. The vertically ruched hem leads the eye up and down the body and not across. There are no constricting waistbands or seams just a soft flowing drape. If only the color was as universally flattering as the silhouette.
I was expecting a lot more from the Fendi 2009 resort collection. This time I don’t know if Karl Lagerfeld is entirely to blame. It is not his fault that the fabric trends forced him to work in such drab colors. I think only the folks at panetone can take credit for that. There is more to see of the Fendi 2009 resort collection, lets hope there is more say that is positive in the next segment.
