It is very rare that I disapprove of any of John Galliano’s designs. The 2009 Christian Dior resort collection is awash in a sea of vibrant colors and a variety of candy stripes. As with any collection you will see the highs, lows and the looks that will have us all scratching our heads. Let’s take our first bite out of the Christian Dior 2009 resort collection.

This beautifully embellished orange maxi gown is reminiscent of a ice cold bottle of orange crush. That is a pleasure that is just as much worth seeking out as this dress. The neck and bust sparkle and fizz like carbonation rising to the top of a glass. I cannot help but to be refreshed.

Who said retro suits have to be cheesy? This suit has a classic feel with a modern flair. The white work along the body of this bold orange suit draws the eye in cinching in attention to the curves of your waist thus giving a slimmer feel. I love all of the bold chunky accessories paired with this suit as well. The natural turquoise add a slight overall boho feeling to this look.

The Bohemian influences saunters on. In a bold ethnic tunic of course. The free flowing hippy I mean boho attitude is what makes this tunic work so well. When wear it you have to say to yourself “yes I am covered in yards chiffon with a bold print from a land unknown and I love it.”. Many will have you believing that this is too much “visual clutter” but those people will never really know the comfort of a floor length tunic now will they? No of course not.

Uh oh. John Galliano’s lost me with this one. Maybe there is someone out there who wants to wear gold genie pants with bright orange stonework on the pelvic regions but unfortunately I am not that someone. I again like the large chunky jewelry and even the stones on the genie pants themselves are pretty cool I just don’t know where the functionality is in this look. Both the blouse and the pants do nothing to flatter the body.
The Christian Dior 2009 resort collection is full of fruit and fantasy and I mostly love it. This is not a very body conscious collection, many of the ensembles are designed to fit freely drawing the eye away from the natural shape of the body. These are the clothes you would be begging to have with you on vacation. This has been an abundant resort season so like our previous coverage this too will be a two part series.
