Mothers Day is May 11th better known as Tommorow. In honor of mothers day and mothers all around the world we will take a look at one of my favorite style icons and mother Gwen Stefani. Gwen, who is currently expecting a baby girl sometime in the summer of 2008, has always had fierce style. As a result of this, she did not sacrifice her personal style at all when she was pregnant with her first son or with her current child.

This picture of Gwen and her son Kingston was taken backstage at the 2008 ready to wear spring fashion show for her clothing line L.A.M.B. At the time Gwen was only a few weeks pregnant with her daughter. She hid her baby bump in a abstract hounds-tooth mini dress. By sticking with one of her favorite color combinations of white, black and red, she has created another enviable look for those pregnant or not.

Through out her pregnancy Gwen clung to her love for denims and heels. There are many options in maternity denim hence the style switch up from boot cut to straight leg, pictured above. The pants and dress combination is very popular in maternity wear and was one of Gwen’s favorites while pregnant with son Kingston.

Here we see our Gwen wearing what some in the maternity business call the “Happy Hippie” look. These elegant caftans are extra comfortable and accommodating to growing bellies. Gwen looks particularly radiant in the bright orange embellished caftan. Note she is still wearing jeans/pants with her dresses the only difference is she has switched to a golden sandal from her beloved heels.

Gwen did not stay away from high heels for very long. Above she is pictured walking happily with her husband of six years Gavin Rossdale of the band Bush. Gwen is looking lovely in this printed white summer dress that is complimented by a whole armful of gold bangles. I can’t tell how high those shoes are but she’s definitely not wearing flats anymore.

This is my favorite Pregnant Gwen look! It was taken at the 2006 Grammys before the arrival of her son Kingston. This much cheetah print would send most expecting mothers running but not our fearless fashionista. In addition to taking new risks with fashion she is still rocking her signature red lipstick and gold bangles even to the Grammys. That is style commitment.

Regardless of the weather and time of year Gwen managed and still manages to be a style icon while pregnant. She exudes a unique grace and carries herself with an unapologetic flair for fashion, while if you were to ask her what the secret to her style success was, she would just say she is being Gwen. Her effortless “cool at all times” style is exactly why we love Gwen Stefani.
